CRUNCH WILLOUGHBY
Crunch's work is primarily functional, utilitarian and celebrates the multifarious characteristics of wild clays. She utilizes self-sourced native materials in her practice for their intrinsic connection to place, provenance and for the unique selling point they provide. She applies these in combination with commercial materials to maintain accessible costs and reliability. Her work speaks to a narrative of impermanence and sustainability and champions precious and limited native Scottish materials such as clay and alluvial deposits.
By presenting often overlooked resources in a refined and striking way she aims to consolidate her thoughts, feelings and admiration of the natural world and our responsibility as humans to protect and honour our surroundings.
