BELLE BRESLIN

Belle is currently studying Communication Design at the Glasgow School of Art. Their practice is broad, experimenting across different mediums, working with photography, animation, illustration and sound. ‘Book of Movement’ is made up of six chapters each focusing on a different type of movement. The headings are: ‘Horse in Motion’, ‘Reflections of Water’, ‘Grass in the Wind’, ‘An eye looking’, ‘Hands During Conversation’ and ‘Particle in the Sea’. They then created 5 books with varying paper textures, materials, printing methods, colours, boxes, and belly bands.
This incorporated various styles of boxes, such as a clamshell enclosure, a slipcase, as well as a belly band, a further sense of movement was added when handling each book.

"Creation of imagery for the publication initially started with videos I had taken for each chapter. I then either tracked the motion with small dots or overlayed shapes onto a series of frames from each video before experimenting digitally through various shapes, creating patterns, and evolutions through forms."
